What to do when you're discouraged

Even logical thinkers get discouraged!  Today’s topic is meant to help you with providing strategic action you can take to turn around your moments of discouragement.

This is not a motivational talk – I am not trying to make you feel better by pumping you up.  This is a scientific talk that I do hope will make you feel better but will do it by explaining the science of the problem to you.  I know that understanding the logic of why this happens will help you connect with the suggestions I offer.  By working with these suggestions, you will gain access to different results.

I’m guessing that you have big goals that may take some significant time and effort to reach, and there are times that we simply are feeling the reality of not yet reaching that goal.  It’s a natural part of the process.  However, what I’m about to share with you today will explain that there’s a scientific reason why we get stuck and what needs to change.  I also provide three practical ways to apply this shift.  I know you are not the type of person to give up on your goal!

The reason we get discouraged reveals the fundamental difference between the Physical and the Quantum Paradigms.  The Physical Paradigm (following Newton’s Laws) is a world of predictability, and locks us into essentially repeating the past.  The Quantum Paradigm (following the laws of Quantum Physics) is a world of possibilities, and allows us to use our power of perspective to change our results.

There are three practical applications I offer to you today that will harness the power of your perspective to get past your moments of discouragement.

  • #1 – Broaden your view. Instead of focusing in on what’s not working, remind yourself that there’s a lot more going on, and much of that is going well.
  • #2 – Look for proof that you can succeed. You will always be able to find evidence to support the frame of mind you want to feed.  Typically, when we get discouraged, we are doing the opposite – looking for proof about why we are failing.
  • #3 – Daydream! It can help you to spend time imagining the scenario where you have reached the goal.  When we are in a place of discouragement, we tend to lose our creative ability and think that we need to have all the steps figured out.  The Quantum Paradigm actually cannot operate under those circumstances, it engages when we can be specific about the possibilities but open to the exact path to get there.

I hope this helped you today – please pass this link onto anyone else you think it will help!
